About the author

Fantasy and romance Indie author M.B. Atkins lives in a small town just outside of Raleigh, North Carolina. When she is not hard at work writing her debut novel, City of Promise and Light (coming out September 2025) or plotting on various colorful sticky notes or on random pieces of paper, she spends her time reading any and all fiction, fantasy, and romance books she can get her hands on, crocheting blankets, scarves and hats for friends and family, gardening, watching the birds arguing over food while pretending to write, or hanging with her partner, 3 insane and crazy cats (Iris, Freya, and Finn) and her melodramatic border collie Bella.

Her dreams of becoming an author started in the 2nd grade. Coming from the mountains of Georgia, storytelling had always been a part of M.B’s life. From having her cousins tell stories of ghosts or Bigfoot to writing her own stories filled with magic while the other school kids played during recess, writing and storytelling had always stayed with her. Her stories progressed in college when she wrote funny short stories about her albino skunk, snowball, and her overprotective dog, Loki. However, after graduating college, life and student loans got in the way of her dreams until late 2024 when she decided enough was enough. She quit her job as a consultant and went to work writing the City of Promise and Light series and hasn’t stopped since.
